Genesis 1:26—Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Romans 8:17-18—“Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you, birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.” So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him.

Hebrews 12:7—It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

Genesis 3:1—Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, `You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” The soul wants to be god-serve self

Before the fall…

Spirit—communed with GodBody—walked in the cool of the day with God

Soul—awakened with eating the fruit of the tree of good and evil, and looked for ways to provide for themselves and protect themselves.

Acts 2:42—They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Acts 4:32—And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them.

Acts 5:1-11
—But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property, and kept back some of the price for himself, with his wife’s full knowledge, and bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land? “While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” And as he heard these words, Ananias fell down and breathed his last; and great fear came over all who heard of it. The young men got up and covered him up, and after carrying him out, they buried him. Now there elapsed an interval of about three hours, and his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. And Peter responded to her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for such and such a price?” And she said, “Yes, that was the price.” Then Peter said to her, “Why is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out as well.” And immediately she fell at his feet and breathed her last, and the young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. And great fear came over the whole church, and over all who heard of these things.

Annaias & Saphira were trying to provide for themselves.

Example of Jesus

Baptism:

Matthew 3:13-17—Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John, to be baptized by him. But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?” But Jesus answering said to him, “Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he *permitted Him. After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”

Temptation:

Matthew 4:1-11—Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after He had fasted fort days and forty nights, He then became hungry. And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones be turned to bread (provide for yourself).” But Jesus answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every work that proceeds from the mouth of God (obedience gives life).’” Then the devil took Him into the holy city; and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will give His angels charge concerning You; and on their hands they will bear You up, lest You strike you foot against a stone (protect yourself).’” Jesus said to him, “On the other hand it is written “You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Again the devil took Him to a very nigh mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory; and he said to Him, “All these things will I give You, if You fall down and worship me (provide for yourself).” Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’” Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.

Jesus’ soul was now like God.

Revelation 13:18—Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.
Philippians 3:10— …that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.

1 Peter 4:12—Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you.

Hebrews 12:17—It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

Romans 12:2—And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Proverbs 3:11&12—My son, do not reject the discipline of the LORD
Or loathe His reproof, For whom the LORD loves He reproves,
Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

James 1:2&3—Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
